My work is inspired by the French Riviera. Half of the year I've been living in Liguria, Italy, from where I'm just a hop, skip and a jump to the Cote d'Azur, the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, where I can experience that the easy, relaxed, inclusive feeling we experience all year round, but especially on holiday, on the beach, with the crowds of people, is also about embracing diversity.
The rainbow-coloured sculptural ensemble, which is reminiscent of summer, is a sketchy and not fully elaborated Lego-like piece of sculpture that can be freely assembled, disassembled, removed from its elements, but also added to and fitted into it, as a paraphrase of the classic curio cabinets that appear in Renaissance and Baroque interiors, and the coral and shell ornaments of Trapani in Sicily.
